Loving Intimacy// Part II

Hiii guys, I know I'm too lazy to update my stuff lol but anyway documentation has its importance... so here am I sitting in front of my laptop trying to input information and wrapping up 2016 =w=.... (and this time coming in with clearer photos too =w=....
Often times when I'm writing my blog I do get into thinking what size should I have my pictures in... But I'm gonna put X-Large for all because they are awesome at the moment XDD To refresh your memory of what am I doing for this project you can go back to my previous post

One of my breakthrough for this year is making larger canvas work, but I guess none will be larger next year haha

At first I only planned to paint 3 paintings but I had enough time on hand so I just dip back into this that I hold back initially. After my assessment I received comments from judge about this painting saying that the focus on those feet were overtaking the atmosphere, I totally agree but I can't help it tho I did try very hard to make the face at their best [; w ;] I need more practice orz, time to time I still find myself having the habit of drawing manga-ish faces on my works ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh*继续趴地* not giving up in venturing them into realistic proportion tho
A couple sneakingly stealing my kisses, covered under clusters of pink romantic flowers.

Had a lot of struggle for this pink ones too, trying to figure out how to create a "real" space is toughhhhh. Comment for myself: Not the best but good try (; w ; )((((

I do particularly like this one quite a lot probably releasing myself and indulging in texture is really fun ... XD I don't want to analyse myself right now but I could if I want to lol. I do tend to moving onto explore how to create things better for my own sake, don't want to explain things too complicated here in my blog I might overshoot with all sorts of talks qwq"

Progression

**Unfortunately I didn't took a lot photos for the last painting orz**
Only for the first painting " The Nightingales" I use the 'most used' method (for me) to start with, which is drawing the grid and measuring those squares but I still find myself manage to go out of shape QwQ" anyway afterwards I decide to painting directly lol, because I want to fake myself like a master hahhahaha((((硬不要脸

Closeup (((I try my best to adjust the color and lighting
Close up of The Nightingale: perhaps my view for love was intense so the borders of almost everything in this are so bold 3_3

Close up details of The Nightingales II compare to the previous ones a lot of the prints were much more looser

Love this hand so much UGHHHH (although part of it was a bit off)

The figures in this painting are rather flat, I don't know why I'm doing it I just know I'm doing it qwq, but I would put it as it's a another kind of experience in managing different sort of surface?   :O

I'm kinda drooling over the texture I did for this painting, guess I'm really into these currently

finally some clear faces showing ~~~ lalala~~~

more close up~~~

Honestly tho this series has more emotional stuff than deep thought or meanings, I'm too lazy to bother with those...meh.... Saw a post recently that can be a little sarcastic but true lol, it shows two panel with A asking B how to achieve a happy life. Bother less is the answer hahhaha I do find myself struggling too much with being too serious with what other people says for a whole lot of time ( can't help when that's the way you were brought up! D:) Anyway I do eventually did find myself growing towards "whatever you say lol" mindset , but the downside is you might end up pretty lonely orz But that's fine.... cause I'm too lazy to bother with too many people's issue ( as long as my best friends are still alive QwQ"

Thanks for reading!  :B

Her Wonderland

THE EPIC ART COMPETITION------UOB, Painting of the Year... is definitely one of the biggest deal probably because they are giving USD as prizes, haha.

I participated once when I was still a student, the painting I competed with is not very complete, but it's one of my favorites ( and is still hanging in my bed room now)

It's sort of creepy but I really love it lol

This time was my second attempt but I guess it's still long way to go if I really going to get the award

:O

Anyway, it's my first attempt of combining oil and collage together ( have been craving to do this for a really long time since I was into collage) I never expect how the outcome would be and should I be filling the whole canvas with papers...I don't really know (because my student ask me, which i think it's a very good question :] ) Just felt like doing it, that's all. (probably I have got used to fill up every corner with things I had)

The polka dots and the way of painting I did for this was slightly different from how I used to paint, simply because I wanted to try bringing out something ,different. (it's too abstract for me to describe clearly)  I don't know is this the right thing to do or not, even if it's a failure, at least I have learn to do better in the future. Some of the collage part wasn't done very well, however having done such a 'bigger' work than my last it has surely taken me to another level, perhaps.

Some description about the artwork:

Imagination often conflict with our lives, daydream happens as we strive through reality. An individual tends to have his own ideal world, which could be enriched with blissful moment and leading a peaceful life. A fulfilled life is built with scattered pieces of what we went through, hence building our very own Wonderland, a secret place of one’s imagination.
The figure is painted in back view, as she sets into her Wonderland, a mixture of emotion and ecstasy; a feeling that is hard to describe and show. While the background finishes off with colorful collage to depict a place that co-exists with reality but unseen. Abstract it may be, still, it is up to us to define something, their existence, meanings or feelings.

Platform II Exhibition

After doing bunch of collage for Pop Up Show during April the next exhibition I had to prepare was Platform II by Chandan Gallery. Although during the meeting the organizer it seem like they were hoping I could do collage work for this exhibition because they wanted to create an exhibition of all sorts of medium and presentation. Since I have already plan what I'm gonna do for my next work, with the most typical medium ---Oil Painting, I just keep on doing it anyway, continuing from the work "Loop" which I did around this time of last year.
Appreciate this chance very much ;)

This series comes by inspired from the poem before the story starts ( Alice in Wonderland).

Some of the verse:

All in the golden afternoon//Its quaint events were hammered out—//"There will be nonsense in it!"—...and much more, a very imaginative poem for me, imagining how the whole story starts from this!

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I'm not particularly good in literature but I'm a big fans of classical stories and writings. To title my artwork well I would go through dictionary to look for the word according to my taste.

I'm not sure how this goes correctly, but when lining up 3 artworks together it would be:

"Loop A Quaintness Romp In Rove"
...which certainly sound like a verse to me...haha :D

I personally love Loop the most... but they would be more perfect if they were align together
(I think heheh)

Rejoice

CATALYSIS_First Group Exhibition

Thanks to my lecturers I was given a chance to take part in this group exhibition along with my lecturer, seniors, classmate and junior...
organize by HOM Art Trans

Loop
2014
Oil on Canvas
120cm x 139cm ( triptych)
SOLD

This is the first artwork I produce since I left school and I honestly think it's the best painting of mine comparing to my school years work. :)

About the Artwork

Alice in Wonderland is a famous story. It has been adapted, retold and remade into movies and other kinds of production. The story starts as Alice jumps into the Rabbit hole and swirls through the mystical hole that is glorious and mysterious. The scenery in the mystical hole is interesting but what attracts me more is the moment when she decides to or not to jump. This is an important moment for Alice. I observe that the decision to jump is more significant than the consequence of such action as Alice reaches the wonderland. This observation helps to choose the topic of my work: “jumping”.
I used to draw comics before I went to Dasein. In comics, paneling and composition are some of the more important elements beside the plot of the story. In my current work, I used these elements to demonstrate a different perspective of “triptych” that is more interesting.

Artist statement

In my work, I focus on gesture and composition. During my final year in the college, as I search for materials to prepare for my portfolio, I discovered that fairy tales and classical stories attracted me most. These materials are the foundation for many of my ideas in my painting.

And some collage works which I quite took some interest starting this year ; )

The Last Serenity
Collage on paper,
size around A4.

=This work is created based on Oscar Wilde's short stories, " The Fisherman and his Soul". I like this story very much and I wanted to create a scenery where the Fisherman was hugging the dead mermaid, so here is it  :))

Hugged
Collage on Paper
A4 size
2014
=This work is created based on a Singapore writer's work, Cyril Wong. I think it was fate I came across his book "Let me tell you something about that night" at the price of RM5. I brought it immediately because I found his writing immensely inspiring and attractive. This Collage work is from one of the short stories, The Boy with the Flower That Grew Out Of His Ass.This is the scene where the boy with the flower and the boy with single wing hugging each other and sleeping on the bed.

AND....mini name card size Collage Works! :DD

...these mini joyful works is not part of the final works. BUT, they meant a lot and has became an important process for me to make my final works more perfect... I never show my lecturer until the assessment day. They were surprise I made these and comment that don't underestimate these "mini artworks". I was happy to hear that from them, because I'm a shy person...haha. I will continue making them when I felt like and hope to make a mini exhibition in some cafe someday^ ^

Cheers!!

137cm x 75 cm
Oil on Canvas
2012

75cm x 75 cm
Oil on Canvas
2013

。。zzz

56cm x 42cm
Oil on Canvas

Race
